iman

SOCIAL STATUS OF KIAI, USTADZ, SANTRI AND ABANGAN PEOPLE TO THEIR IMAN
According to Qur’an, do those social statuses determine their level of iman?

Faith is an attitude of the entire self, including both will and intellect, directed toward a person, an idea, or—as in the case of religious faith—a divine being. Modern theologians agree in emphasizing this total existential character of faith, thus distinguishing it from the popular conception of faith that identifies it with belief as opposed to knowledge.[1]
Kiai is someone who shouts the greatness and the missionary of Islam, kiai usually lead pesntren. Ustadz is someone who teaches the education of religion. Santri is someone who is studying education of religion in pesantren.  And abangan people are the common people such as becak men, public transportation driver, unemployment, farmer, seller, labor, official employee, etc.
Actually, it’s difficult to measure how much people’s faith, because it’s very privacy.  Sometime there are big opportunities that people who confess “faith”, actually they just “believe”. But in Islam, there are main things which is wished and supported in a faith. These are the measurements of the faith, so people can evaluate themselves whether he/she faiths or not.
  1. Taqwa
The word taqwa in Koran is 258 times, while iman is 881 times. It is not too much when it was said that the main element of a faith is taqwa. Taqwa is self-convinced which is followed by a compliance and adherence and execute of Gods command and avoids all His prohibitions. The command which is most assertive to someone who has iman and taqwa. we will find in surah Ali Imran 102, O You who believe! fear Allâh (by doing All that He has ordered and by abstaining from All that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey him, be thankful to him, and Remember Him always], and die not except In a state of Islâm (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allâh.
For example, we take Iblis. He is a mukalaf (which is mandatory implements the religion), because they are included of jin, but they do not obey Allah’s command. Surah Al Kahfi 50, and (remember) when we said to the angels; "Prostrate to Adam." so they prostrated except Iblîs (Satan). He was one of the jinns; He disobeyed the command of his Lord. will You Then take Him (Iblîs) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? what an evil is the exchange for the Zâlimûn (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc).
We can say that jin’s iman is in level of haqqul yakin, but the disobey causing they cannot be called having iman
  1. Sholat
QS Al Mukmin 1-2, 1. Hâ-Mîm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings].2. the Revelation of the Book (this Qur'ân) is from Allâh the All-Mighty, the All-Knower.
QS Al Maa’uun 4-6, so woe unto those performers of Salât (prayers) (hypocrites), who delay their Salât (prayer) from their stated fixed times, those who do good deeds Only to be seen (of men)[2]
QS An Nisa 103, when You have finished As-Salât (the prayer - congregational), Remember Allâh standing, sitting down, and lying down on Your sides, but when You are free from danger, perform As-Salât (Iqâmatas Salât). Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours.
That was sufficient of editor about the will of Alloh that people who have iman must uphold solat. Started from the enticement of happiness until the threat to someone who careless, there is no space of evades. Even in a situation this most difficult, people still must do sholat with procedures which still enabling to be done.
  1. Pay for zakat
Zakat has two sides. Firstly as man slave to Allah and second as devotion of man to humanity which purpose of decrease the poverty. There are many commands about this:
QS Al Baqarah 3. who believe In the Ghaib and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakât , spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also In Allâh's Cause - Jihâd, etc.].
QS Al Baqarah 43. and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât, and Irka' (i.e. bow down or submit yourselves with obedience to Allâh) along with ArRaki'ûn.
QS Al Baqarah 277. truly those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât, they will have their reward with their Lord. on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
QS Al Mu’minuun 1-4. successful indeed are the believers. those who offer their Salât (prayers) with All solemnity and full submissiveness. and those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and All that Allâh has forbidden) and those who pay the Zakât .

  1. Fast in ramadhan month
QS Al Baqarah 183. O You who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for You as it was prescribed for those before you, that You may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2).
  1. hajj
QS Ali Imran 97. In it are manifest signs (for example), the Maqâm (place) of Ibrâhim (Abraham); Whosoever enters it, He attains security. and Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka'bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allâh, those who can afford the expenses (for one's conveyance, provision and residence); and whoever disbelieves [i.e. denies Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah), Then He is a disbeliever of Allâh], Then Allâh stands not In need of any of the 'Alamîn (mankind and jinns).
QS Al Hajj 27 27. and proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). they will come to You on foot and on Every lean camel, they will come from Every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj).
Beside those main "pillar" of the human’s iman, Al Qur'an still have many characteristics of  human who can be called having iman of God in their heart.
Those characters are:
  1. Someone who have positive thinking of Allah.
QS Al Baqarah 26 26. Verily, Allâh is not ashamed to set forth a parable even of a mosquito or so much more when it is bigger (or less when it is smaller) than it. and as for those who believe, they know that it is the Truth from their Lord, but as for those who disbelieve, they say: "What did Allâh intend by This parable?" by it He misleads many, and many He guides thereby. and He misleads thereby Only those who are Al-Fâsiqûn (the rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).
  1. Someone who eat halal food only
QS Al Baqarah 172-173 O You who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism)! eat of the lawful things that we have provided You with, and be grateful to Allâh, if it is indeed He whom You worship. He has forbidden You Only the Maytatah (dead animals), and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which is slaughtered as a scrifice for others than Allâh (or has been slaughtered for idols, etc., on which Allâh's Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). but if one is forced by necessity without wilful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, Then there is no sin on Him. Truly, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
  1. Someone who does not avenge too much and be suggested to apologize.
QS Al Baqarah 178. 178. O You who believe! Al-Qisâs (the Law of Equality In punishment) is prescribed for You In case of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. but if the killer is forgiven by the brother (or the relatives, etc.) of the killed against blood money, Then adhering to it with fairness and payment of the blood money, to the heir should be made In fairness. This is an alleviation and a Mercy from Your Lord. so after This whoever transgresses the limits (i.e. kills the killer after taking the blood money), He shall have a painful torment.
  1. Someone who struggles to Allah Berjuang and act normal
QS Albaqarah 190 and fight In the Way of Allâh those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allâh likes not the transgressors. [This Verse is the first one that was revealed In connection with Jihâd, but it was supplemented by another .
  1. Someone who give infak appropriately
QS Al Baqarah 195. and spend In the Cause of Allâh (i.e. Jihâd of All kinds, etc.) and do not throw yourselves into destruction (by not spending Your wealth In the Cause of Allâh), and do good. Truly, Allâh loves Al-Muhsinûn (the good-doers).
  1. Someone who do not used God’s name as an excuse to do wrong things
QS Al Baqarah 224 and make not Allâh's (Name) an excuse In Your oaths against Your doing good and acting piously, and making peace among mankind. and Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower (i.e. do not swear much and if You have sworn against doing something good Then give an expiation for the oath and do good).
Certainly, there are many things in Qur’an which contain of the characteristic of people who iman. But from those characteristics above, we have been able to see that the determiner of the level of iman cannot be measure of their social status, but their way of thinking and the act they do. It is not impossible that someone who is looked worth such as kiai, actually have a missing iman because of his wrong point of view and his act. And it’s possible that someone who looked under estimate, abangan people, actually he has much iman in his heart and act alike in Qur’an.
 Walloohu a’lam
